The new corporate website needs to reflect what KPN stands for. The corporate story should be told clearly and more important: inspiringly to be appealing for a wide audience.

The core of the new site are KPN’s five main themes. Each of these themes has a rich landing page. Here is explained why the topic is important for KPN and how the company operates in this specific field. A second goal of these thematic pages is they provide context to the daily news within this field. The idea behind is that outsiders can read news articles embedded in an environment with relevant information. For example, when KPN report about a 10 year green energy contract, visitors can see this is part of a broader context: it’s not a stand-alone event, but part of years of efforts and a structural sustainability strategy.

All these specific target groups are served on the homepage with relevant entries. Whether you are interested in one of the themes or looking for vacancies, every visitor can find what they need in a couple of clicks.

Spatial awareness

A corporate company like KPN has a lot to tell, which almost automatically results in a site with lots of pages and articles. To help visitors and to make clear where they are in the website, we used the design and ux principles of spatial awareness. Pages on the highest level are visually rich with imagery, video and animations; pages on a lower level have a clean and spacial design. This help visitors to find their way intuitively.

We started with the underlying strategy, thought about a logical information structure, developed content, took care of the design and eventually built the site. Because we control everything, we’re able to let the most beautiful content shine within a smooth and perfect working platform.

Results

More traffic & pride

With the new website, KPN had an ambition to show what the company is today. In addition, the company wanted to be a front runner with this site in its field of operation. Others should judge whether this site succeeds in these ambitions. But what this site did achieve, is generating more traffic. And, last but not least, it fuels the pride of KPN-employees feel for their company.
